Essential Duties and Responsibilities but are not limited to:

  • Underwrite new and renewal business per guidelines including performing related administrative processes. Evaluate and qualify risk to determine adequate premium and policy terms and conditions. Review claims and financial statement. Present for referral when required
  • Meet or exceed production goals as assigned by management
  • Document files to reflect clear thought process and decision making including sign offs and referrals
  • Communicate properly and timely with all brokers regarding underwriting decisions
  • Negotiate to achieve bottom line profitability for the company
  • Handle policy change request
  • Use systems and programs needed to conduct daily business
  • Cultivate excellent professional relationship with brokers
  • Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or appropriate insurance designation preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of professional liability underwriting experience required
  • Must have knowledge of professional liability underwriting and insurance industry
  • Must understand fundamentals of coverage, terms and conditions of Professional Liability Insurance
  • Ability to understand financial statement and ratios used in risk analysis
  • Must have good computer skills in Microsoft office suite
  • Excellent written, verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills to communicate with all levels
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Must be detail oriented and attention to quality/accuracy
  • Willingness to learn
  • Must have excellent time management skills and strong organizational skills
  • Must be a team player who is willing to work in a highly collaborative and fast-pace environment
